What is a Foxydot?

Ok, I get alot of questions on this one, so I'll clear it up.

Foxydot is kind of a special nickname that I have, and it has spiritual meaning for me. It's really a kind of "shortened" version of Daughter of Fox.

Fox is what might be known as my "totem". It is an archetype animal that I relate to and a guide that I may use to help me though some of life's trickier puzzles. While the term "fox" has some different modern connotations (and if you feel those apply as well, heck, I certainly don't mind!), but from ancient times, the Fox is seen to be a character of change. Fox is wily and clever, as many of the tales of Aesop show us, and he will use his craftiness to win over enemies, or to get ahead personally. Fox is a playful, joyful creature.

In the natural world, foxes are known to be great adapters, patient and clever hunters, adept at camoflauge and ambush. They often form long term bonds with their own kind, and are known to be friendly to mankind as well, when it suits them. Some foxes who have lsot their habitat due to man's intrusion have adapted by forming a nearly domesticated relationship with humans. Foxes are attendant and loving parents who share their paraental responsibilities, and no fox goes too long with out a little playtime or a nice nap on a warm sunny rock.

"dot" is short for "daughter", a word often pronounced in the Midwest as "dottir". The Daughter figure, or kore of Greek mythical thinking is the unbridled maiden, the young woman responsible only for herself and her happiness. This character is exemplified by Artemis, pre-abduction Persephone, and aspects of Aphrodite. At this time in my life, this is my role: I am the maiden, I answer to myself and I am enjoying my youth while I have it.

As I progress in years and experince, I may find that this name no longer suits me and drop it for a more suitable one. This is not uncommon among spiritual people. However, I am in agreement with my sister in her throry that one's joy-essense reaches a certain age that it likes and never leaves that place. I think in my "laughing place", I will always be the maiden, I will always be Foxydot.
