Prom Night!

The epitome of teen-age drama-rama and I was there! The last time I was at a prom, these kids were in diapers, so when my friend Sarah (a high school teacher) asked me to accompany her, I leaped at the chance. Thankfully, my sister (who has also lost quite a bit of weight) had given me an appropriate gown that was to big for her only a couple of months ago. I was IN!

Okay, so Woodward High is a majority African American school. I was going to have to learn some hip-hop moves, right? I spent far more time than I should have investigating the Chicken Noodle and how to "Pop-Lock-and-Drop-It", and by the time those dances rolled around I felt able to participate, if not well. (Fortunately, embarrassment is only fatal for teens. Once one has passed the big 30, one is usually well inoculated due to exposure to ridicule over time, and thus highly unlikely to die of embarrassment.)

I had a wonderful time. More people should get to go to prom. I hear some organization in Northside is having a prom this weekend...I may have to drop by....
