I heart Tim Gunn

This guy would so be one of my French Factor role models if he was a woman. Oh heck, he's close enough. He listens. He learns (and love learning). He knows fashion and he understands about fit (beyond the size...how your clothing suits who you are). And that voice, that grammar, that vocabulary. I could listen to him all day.

It cheers me up to listen to him, which I sort of need. I gained today. Bummer, I know, but here's the reality of it: traffic was maddening last night and I got home about five seconds before trick-or-treating began, leaving me just enough time to dump my whole bin of toys on the front porch and clean them back up again. Since I wanted to avoid doorbell action as much as possible, I didn't get around to eating dinner until nearly 9:30pm, and then went to bed before 11. My gain was tiny, so I don't think too much of it. Still, it would have been nice to lose.

After trick-or-treats last night, I grabbed up the top from my Halloween costume and made the sizing adjustments to the waist/underbust. This meant turning the whole damn thing inside out through a shoulder strap several times ans was quite a pain in the butt to do, but I'm reasonably satisfied with the results. Not the best way to size for a C cup and a tiny waist, but it'll do to save that garment from the recycle bin. It will make a great shell with a suit or even jeans, because I used a nice dull satin in making it. My next project is another alteration: I'm going to take my slinky red sleeveless dress (the one I resized in the resizing project) and turn it into a top with 3/4 sleeves. As a dress it's just a little too hootchie mama for the office, but I love the way the bodice looks on. I think there is enough fabric in the skirt to make 3/4 sleeves, so I'm going to give it a shot. If it works, I have another dress I might try the same thing with.
